Linda Demetre’s Bio

Nothing captures your attention like a great painting. When you identify with the subject matter, usually something emotional has pulled at your heartstrings. Linda paints scenes that are familiar to all of us. She’s attracted to romantic themes and is able to capture the intimacy between a man and woman, whether they’re engaging in deep conversation, or entwined on the dance floor. She adores children and catches their playful antics on film and then later translates this action to the canvis. Dogs are also favorites, especially her dog, Gabby, a flatcoat retriever. A typical scene she’s painted is Gabby, in the kitchen, underneath Mom’s bread board, awaiting a tender morsel to drop.”I guess a painter is somewhat of a voyeur, as he observes life.” It is all about catching the mood. “I love to paint women in solitary settings, there is an air of pensiveness about them.” How we interpret these scenes is based on our own life experiences.”

Linda grew up in sunny California, which might account for her brilliant color palette. After receiving her art degree from the University Of Montana, she joined the airline and flew for thirty five years, mostly internationally. This gave her the opportunity to visit the world’s major art museums. Her impressionistic style was certainly influenced by the French artists, though her color pallet is often drawn from the Japanese woodblock prints. She paints primarily with oil. Thoughout her career she raised two children and still had the time to create and market her artwork.

Linda now resides between Medina and Camano Island with her husband. Her advice, “Lead a sensual life, full of music, flowers, great wine and the ones you love.”
